Fraps?

Has anyone heard of Fraps? Basically you can make ingame movies and edit them for others to see and stuff like that. I was considering downloading it, if you can still do that (they might have made it buy only). I hear its a resource hog though, like peoples framerates go down by the 20's and 30's when they use the program. I was thinking of using it for W.o.W PvP videos, and just overall messing around. So has anyone got any insights on this program?

GameCam is the one I could refer you to. Having run both FRAPs and GameCam I'll stay with the better program. You can easily assign the hot keys as well as other things in the easy to use profile manager. It also has it's own tutorail with a desktop shortcut and no counter seen in screen shots. GameCam Lite is the freeware version.

Besides not seeing the frame rate counter when using the screen shot option seen on a player GameCam detects all games installed and you simply use one desktop shortcut to choose from a menu. You can also add or remove items from that list. http://www.planetgamecam.com/

Is Gamecam a "smaller" program than Fraps? Because My buddy uses fraps and he averages 60 FPS on WoW, which is what Ill be using it for. I on the other hand average about 40-45 depending on if I'm in a city or not.

The GameCam installer you download is 328kb while the FRAPs is seen at 737kb. It will create three desktop icons with one for starting it, one is the profile manager you run first to create and save a profile of games and hotkeys, and the thrid is the tutorial for using it. When someone recommended using it for recording clips in Fear when nothing could capture screen shots another program used for video playback could take snapshots. It does show a GameCam emblem in those however.
