free bsd question

hello sorry meant to put damn small linux on the title
iam thinking of installing damn small linux on an older laptop beacuse froim what i can see i quite like the interface and the low specs needed to run
just wondering if any has ever had any problems with this os
also,system is ibm thinkpad 570 orginally on windows 98 does anyone know if a bios update will be needed

what interface ;)

if you havent used it before, dont dive in at the deep end with BSD, use a nice easy linux system instead

If you install a desktop interface, you need 256mb ram minimum (384+ is best) and a 600mhz+ cpu in order to get a decent enough desktop experience

On older thinkpads, you generally need to update the BIOS to get them to play nice with newer OSes

i am interested in using free bsd i meant to talk about damn small linux for use in my 570 cheers:)
 
ah okay

DSL runs well on under 128mb ram. Although they quote less, it doesnt like running on less than 64 though.

Personally i would just stick with 98....
