Free "Notepad"

Hello

I am looking for a free notepad type program that can run full screen, save in .txt format, and have a word count/goal feature. I want to write something, and it has to be 50000 words. I would like a bar or some type of progress status telling me how far I have gotten.

I think visual basic 6 has a sample program like notepad, you can use that or add commands to have count words feature or other stuff.

Good Idea! The only problem is that I don't have Visual Basic 6, nor do I know how to program .

how many words does windows notepad or wordpad allow? theyre both free, as long as you have windows
wouldnt that be easier than looking for another program?

I dont realy think there would be a notepad that would restrict how many letters you can use.

I mean it would be pointless.

And 50000 words is quite alot.

I am actually looking for a program to help people doing NaNoWrimo (National Novel Writing Month) http://www.nanowrimo.org/ . I want something to keep distractions from Word away, but it has an advanced word count feature to keep on track instead of constantly checking word count.
