Hey everoyne I have a question about a computer that I own that is running Windows XP. I get connect on the computer and I have all access to it and the internet and programs. But in certain programs when I click on them like Microsoft Publisher, Spyder Solitare, and then just sometimes at random. I would get lines that go through the computer screen and I cant click on anything its just lines so I have to reset the computer but turning off the power in the back which isn't a good thing to do. Do anyone of you guys know what could be causing this? If you have any ideas please let me know and I will gladly try them out. Thanks!

Along with getting the specs on your system, it is possible that a heat factor might be an issue.

But, tell us what configuration/specs your system is in order to help us. Along, with how old the unit is.

Hey guys thanks for the posts, I dont know if heat reall is an issue. The temps are at 22 degrees C so they aren't bad but there are no other fans in the case. The computer has to be a few years old, but here is all the stats on my computer:

The problem might be the processor... that's a pretty old and slow one. Not sure if your motherboard is new enough to upgrade much, and the BIOS is from 2000.

Yeah I know the whole system seems to be a bit old, but what would you recommend me doing. Should I run a bios update or try to upgrade the motherboard and processor? Please let me know on any other ideas.

Thanks,
Jeff

You could try a BIOS update.
I would reccomend upgrading the motherboard and processor
This is your current's specs... http://www.dealtime.com/xPF-Shuttle-Socket370-AV11 and it only supports PentiumIII and Celerons.

Hey I am going to try a BIOS update on that tonight, but do you really think that the mobo and processor are the reason for the freezing? If that is the reason I would just back up my hard drive and then I will install a new mobo and processor, but right there are no other options for this computer? Thanks for your help!
