fresh install brings problems

So a few hours ago I installed my new i5 3570k cpu and Asrock z77 fatal1ty professional motherboard with a fresh install of windows 7 64bit and im having massive trouble. I have no idea why im having the issue or what it relates too... for some reason since installing the new hardware and windows my internet is just not working the way it should be. I did not have an issue a few hours ago before i upgraded so it has to be something new.

I have a good conection to the internet and all other devices i have attached to my router are still working fine but my pc will not. When the pc first starts up nothing will load in firefox but then after about a minute or 2 it start working out of the blue. but things like youtube videos are extremly slow to lead now but they were not before the new install. I was thinking perhaps there was a conflict between my wifi card and new mb, there is no indication or warning about it but thats the only solution I can come up with. I am using a Asus PCE-N15 wifi card. I know its an older card but i brought it brand new only a few months ago.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to were the problem might lye. cheers
 
wow it actualy took 2 whole minutes for my browser to post that. funny thing is when i manage to do a speed test with speedtest.net my net speed is exactly what it should be...
 
several reasons come to mind.
First thing to check is the wireless driver in use. Make sure you are using a device driver released by the wireless card manufacturer and not a generic microsoft wireless driver, which in certain circumstances might result in reduced throughput (to ensure stability).
It could also be all the software you have, including Windows itself, trying to update themselves all at once and eating up all the bandwidth in the process.
Connect the computer to the internet and leave it alone, depending on your general connection speed, for a couple of hours or so, to make sure all the software have completed their "first time update" routine.
Restart and check your connection speed again.
Finally, which antivirus/ security suite have you installed?
Try DISABLING the "web protection" component of the security suite, and check speed again. I have seen certain security suites severely reduce connection speed. And in my opinion, they aren't really necessary. All you need is a good "Real-time" protection. The real time protection is supposed to stop viruses in real-time, before they are written to the HDD or executed by the processor, making the web-shield component a useless resource hog.
 
fresh install so no anti virus as of yet. The drivers are the same one I was using before re installing windows however i am about to download new one to try.

Strange thing is it must be something in windows cause right now I have loaded onto Ubuntu wich i have dual booted and I dont have an issue with the card.
 
I think it is a hardware problem, make sure you have the right drivers for win7, plus the right driver for the internet on win7.
 
Yeah I just installed new drivers and decided to use the Asus wifi utility as well and even though it connected with full signal and everything looked ok I had no Internet access at all. Luckily wifi cards are cheap these days

You cannot have two drivers installed at the same time, it will shut off everything. Same if you have two cards, if they are both plugged in, niether will work.
 
Is there any preference for a wifi card? Last time I had a strict budget and just got the cheapest one I could but that obviously hasn't worked out the way I wanted so what should I go for and should I get pcie or would a USB device serve me well
 
Cheers for the recommendation unfortunatly I can't get that one in Australia without ordering it online and I would rather not wait 2 weeks for delivery lol

Hmmm new problem I went out and brought a tplink pcie card and its doing the same thing as the last card. Now either I have terrible luck or there is something else going on
 
Did you install the correct chipset drivers for the motherboard? Perhaps you have a corrupt windows install.
