Fresh windows install = 5min bootup time?!

Ok so I just formatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows. With absolutely no programs on it yet, it takes like 5 minutes to bootup. WTF. My second hard drive takes about 20 seconds with the EXACT same version of windows....any advice?

Hmm. That is strange. Well, my only advice would be to google and install TuneXP. Open it, click 'Memory and File System'. At the bottom, click Ultra fast booting. This will instantly begin moving the boot files to the outer edge of the hard drive platter (where it moves the fastest), so make sure you're not doing anything major at the time.

See what boot up time you get after that.

weird.. . how can that be. why not you analyze your hdd for fragment file. right clik at your hardisk at my computer then click properties, then press tools tab and click defragment now. Analyze your hdd, if too many fragment file, defragment it and see the result after it. or

maybe your 1st hdd have a problem. Did it make a sound? i mean when loading or accessing aplication, did it make some ##*#***sound, you know, always happen to an older hdd.. thats what i think. for advice, it's time to change your hdd. but it's only if your hdd is really an old one. if not, maybe someone else have better advice than me.. ;)

haven't heard any strange noises but I agree, I think the HD is just dying...someone told me to try a "low level format" so I did that, haven't reinstalled windows yet tho

It might very well be your hard drive dying. I had a laptop once that took heaps long to boot up and if you listen carefully you can hear the very strange clicks of the dying hard drive heard.

Good ideas.

Also, if the drive is SATA,
You might also want to confirm that the right drivers were supplied to windows when installeding (done by pressing F6 about ten seconds into the install)

I have seen on sites v1, but this is from2 years ago +. Maybe i was on the wrong site, wait i found, driverheaven.com that it?
