Fried laptop motherboard! :-(

I recently fried my Dell Inspiron 1000 laptop with a failed Flash BIOS update. So, I'm wondering whether it would simply be a matter of disconnecting things and reconnecting if I were to replace the motherboard by myself? (I ask this b/c I have no experience working w motherboards).

Also, besides ebay, what are other cheap places to get used (but working) laptop motherboards?

When it comes to laptops it is impractical, both financially and mechanically, to replace a motherboard.

I'd contact the manufacturer and see what they could do for you.

I found a used MotherBoard for this laptop on ebay worth ~17% of the original Laptop purchase. I think it's worth it. But will I encounter problems replacing the motherboard by myself?

I already pried open my laptop, removed the keyboard, disconnected the touch pad and LCD pannel. Everything in there seems to be disconnectable. So will it be a matter of inserting the replacement motherboard, or do I have to recalibrate things like the LCD and stuff like that?

No calibration required... just be careful pulling it out and installing the replacement.
