Friend needs Video card upgrade suggestions please

My friend likes to play MechWarrior. He would like to upgrade his video card. What video card would be a good upgrade without breaking the bank? He does not overclock ( I don't even know if his AMD chip can be overclocked ) and would prefer not to have to buy extra cooling fans.

He has a HP Pavilion p7-1534 Desktop PC ( I just noticed he ONLY has a 300 w power supply !! ) Do you think he really needs to upgrade his power supply to at least 500?

What his budget? The gtx 760 would be ok, about $219 at newegg.

The recommended cards are the gtx 285 or the hd 5830. May be able to find them on ebay or similar. You would definately have to upgrade the power supply though, at least to a good 500 watt model.

He didn't give me a price but John that sounds very reasonable. I will let him know all this and then he can decide. Thank you for the information

( OMG it's killing me waiting for a check in the mail which could take till the end of the month and I am destroying my Dual core , 1.40GHz , 220W piece of crap $300 computer and going to build my own gaming PC! The wait is killing me )
 
Yeah you'll want to get something like a Corsair CX500 for the power supply as well.
