From 4 to 12 Gigs of RAM?

Quick and easy question. Would I have any issues if I bought a 2 x 4GB set of RAM and putting it in with my current 2 x 2 GB set of RAM. Yielding a total of 12GB? I'd use the same ones, RIPJAW 1600's.

Seems like it would be fine to me but I've never really seen people with 12GB of RAM. I have no one to sell my 4 to so figured just keep it. Thoughts?
 
Well I know I'll need to upgrade from 4 soon and getting rid of the 4 that I have seems pointless but buying another 4 doesn't make a whole lot of sense either since getting 8 is about 5-10 dollars more than 4. If that makes sense.
