From PC2100 DDr to PC2700 DDR Upgrade

From DDR DIMM PC2300 to PC2700 DDR Upgrade

Hi, i have only 228MB of memory in my system. I wants to upgrade to 1024MB. Apparently required a PC2300 DDR, and I wants to update the same. However a comp tech in my job suggest me that instead aDDR DIMM PC2300,
I should install a PC2700 DDR DIMM. He said gave more speed!

I never hear anything like that before. Is he correct?

I bougth my system a year ago in C City, It is a Northgate (dont ask me who is the manufacturer because I do not know.) SO Windows XP Home Srv.Pack 2

According with InSpecs on line upgrade config I have Apacer DDR Dimm PC2300 :)

I want to upgarded ASAP, but I need to be sure.

Thanks

Fernand

As far as i know, there is no differnce between them (not sure tho), but ther would be a huge difference in speed if you upgraded to 1GB of ram, since it will boost your performance greatly, and right now you actually have 256MB of memory, but the rest is being used for your video. So you wont actually get 1024mb of ram unless you disable on-board video.

Well, before you disable your on-board video, you would need to buy a video card, if you dont have one then you cant disable your on-board video.

I dont think the speed of the memory will matter, Just the amount you have. I would recommend a normal user to have 512 mb

Thats pretty much what i was saying, those 2 types of ram wont really make a difference, but upgrading to 512 or 1gb would be a huge improvement. And if you have 1GB, there would be no reason to disable your on-board video.
