I accidently hit some button or did something weird and my task manager like, jumped into 16bit mode or something.. I have windows XP and, my task manager is supposed to look like this:
task-manager.gif

But instead, it looks like this
ugh.jpg

I honestly don't know what the $*(%^ happened, But its really annoying because all the tabs are gone and i can't switch to "Proccessess" and, now i can't stop certain programs from running.

Anyone know how to fix this. {I'm pretty sure i just hit some hotkey or something, but i can't figure it out}

Do you have system restore on? Right click my computer go to properties, Advanced tab, then look in performance maybe somthing is unchecked.

Oh my god, Thanks alot Flash_AAA... I remember changing those settings for better performance.. I didn't know it would change the task manager like this though, so i wasn't able to go to the processes tab.

thanks. i knew it would be something simple like this.

hmm...

i'm starting to think i have a virus. >_<
i was past due for one anyway. haven't got one in awhile.

i can't open mozilla. double click it and nothing happens. Also sometimes when i try to open IE it opens for 0.274 seconds and closes on its own.

the task manager still looks like that, even after changing those settings and restarting -_- i was pretty damn sure that was the problem, guess not

too bad i can't use task manager and go into the Processes tab and see whats running. But when i open it and see the open programs that are running right now, rundll32.exe and Proyecto1.exe are running..
have no idea what Proyecto1 is.

Ran spybot and ad-aware and they didn't find anything.

EDIT: ohh boy, i googled Proyecto1.exe and whole bunch of McAfee / antivirus software comes up.

Looks like you have that virus:

5. Sets the following registry keys and values:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
"MediaPath"="C:\Proyecto1.exe"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
"Rundll32.exe"="C:\Rundll32.exe"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceEX
"DevicePath" ="C:\Proyecto1.exe"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SETUP
"NetCache"="C:\Proyecto1.exe"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
"ProxyDevice"="C:\Proyecto1.exe"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\kIlLeRgUaTe 1.03

its late and i'm tired and i can't think.. for some reason i thought you go to Run > type in "MSConfig" but thats not working so thats obviously not it

ohkay, i typed in 'regedit'.
"Registry Editing has been disabled by your administrator"
What?!?! :confused:

Ohkay i need to go to sleep. I don't even have antivirus software so i just downloaded bullguard. i'm not even sure if this will help or not but its scanning. 53 hours remaining. Scan Speed: 1 file/second. Jesus..

ohh man, This virus really got me. My computers lagging like crazy, probably due to the lack of system files >_< that virus deleted alot of stuff. Whenever i do something i always get an error message of a missing system file, or i don't have admin access to it.

Lorand, it didn't work. I ran it and it said
Error: unable to remove registry key "HKCU\Software\Mircosoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\DisableRegistryTool"
it took 5 minutes for my computer to open up notepad. :mad:

I don't think i'll be able to fix the registries. Plus it would take forever to individually search each system file i'm missing on google and download it.
I might just reformat. :(

Quick question. "DisableRegistryTools"
If i see a reg key named this should i delete it?
Or should i leave that alone.

Haha i'm not that familiar with registries and stuff, i've never really messed with any of this before, and i'm just browsing through all the registries, deleting stuff that just doesn't look like it should be there. Don't really know what i'm looking for. I already deleted all the stuff Chroder posted.
Hope i don't delete anything i'm not supposed to.

It could be wise to backup your registry before messing around with it. :)
If you deleted those entries then restart the computer and see what happens. Normally the virus would no longer be active.
