hey, i have been doing some research about my laptop recently, i found out that i am able to upgrade the Graphics Card and Processor.

my graphics card is currently a nVidia 6800 Geforce go, it uses some technology called MXM or something and apparently i have MXMIII. i would like to upgrade this to a newer card, i.e. 7600go or whatever it is, can't remember atm.
i would also like to upgrade my processor and RAM.

i currently have 1gig of RAM which is clocked at 200mhz, would i be able to buy 2gigs with say 533mhz?
my processor is currently a Pentium M 2.0Ghz, what other Pentium M speeds are there? where could i get one?
would i be able to upgrade my Graphics card? and where would i get one?

and how much do you think this will cost (average)?

thanks for any help.

You can upgrade the memory, no prob. But the CPU have to look at the MB manual to determine the max. in an upgrade. As for the video... not sure, actually never heard of replacing the video adapter being that it is part of the system. Hard to do that, unless the manual saids you can. Have to look at the manual. In order to really help you at this, the best point is to look there first. Laptop, unless designed by intel verified for example, can't be upgraded on video... actually not sure about the adapter on the verified by intel either kind of thinking about it.

But, CPU and memory shouldn't be a problem.

It depends on what you really want to do... if the computer is more than 3 years old... best not to do any major upgrades other than memory... the prices are extremely high... probably be best to purchase a new laptop/notebook with all the power and hardware requirements to do your task.

My 2 cents.

its about 1 1/2 years old atm. it was only an idea, but thanks for the help anyway, i just wanted to get an idea of what i can do and how much it would cost, my next idea was to build a new pc for gaming, which i might end up doing.

Hey dropkicks

the Gforce go 6800 in your amilo is replacable / upgradeable

i too am an amilo m3438G owner

I am currently experiencing problems with the graphics which i beleive is down to a defective 6800 go card

MXM cards arent the easiest modules to source however i have found 1 seller

http://www.mxm-upgrade.com/

they really know there stuff but the upgrades are expensive

If / when you do find an upgrade mxm card for your m3438G i would happily take your 6800 go off your hands for a resonable price

good luck with your upgrades

easy now
