Hi Guys,

the Function key on my laptop does not work/is disabled ...i am unable to adjust volume and brightness settings, for example, using my keyboard as a result

any advice to assist me restore the use of the function key would be greatly appreciated (the volume adjust function Fn + F3/F4 is probably the most important function i'd like to have restored at the very least if possible)

thanks in advance,

Sam

I would probably try running a system restore to original factory settings or call sony...also check if the key itself isn't resting right, if it seems to wobble instead of press down straight, those would be indications you need to get the key replaced. also, if the restore doesn't fix the problem, it's probably the keyboard with an actual hardware issue.

Locate the drivers for you computer here, use method 1 to identify your system. After you find your system, go to the Software/Drivers page, and choose Original. Download and install the drivers for Notebook Control and Utilities. Check if your Fn key works.

thanks guys.....

i cant seem to find my model on the sony website ....(its actually a PCG -9S1P)......can i install the drivers for a different but similar laptop ? if so, which one ?

do i have any other options ?

regards,

sam

system restore did not change anything unfortunately

if I were you then, I'd probably call up sony see what kind of help you can get from their tech desk, if the restore didn't work and you are unable to find your model to get drivers, you might have to do more in-depth work xD
