I don't wanna say this to any more people..

I know you got a ton of $$$ to play with but for ***** sake...don't just throw it away..

yeah but its actually cheaper to get the 8GB DDR2 RAM then it was for the 4GB DDR3 RAM... soooo?

Yeah, because DDR3 is crazy expensive with little gain at all right now..

I dunno man, just do what you want...you have alot of money and obvious just want to flash it so....waste it,..throw it away...I don't care.

its only 64$ though....

I think that what Scooter means is that with 1500$ you could get a system which would perform almost as good as this one. Yet you insist on paying almost double the price to get an increase of 10% if any.

In some cases a single GTX 280 will outperform 2 GTX 280. Crazy ? Well that's how good SLI is IMHO. You are surely better off spending 1500 or maybe even 2000$ for a good system which leaves room for upgradability and then to upgrade when someone truly better comes out.

On a side note, I'd get a different case, but then again cases are personnal. I just don't like the one you chose. I prefer cases like the Antec P182 or the Antec Solo. But people like the Antec 900 or 1200. Otherwise, Lian-li cases are also great.

One last thing, if you are buying from Canada, why do you insist on posting Newegg prices ?

Yes, well put..

I dont mean to be snappy but honestly...dood its like okay we get it..you got a shit whack of money...but it seems to me and maybe others that all you want to do is show off and be able to say I have this and that...

It's embarrassing and quite frankly annoying listening to you, and then giving you advice and your still insisting on all flash and money, money, money,,,to prove something?! I dunno what but this is 2 threads now, with multiple pages and its getting old.

Either take the advice or don't but realize your coming off like an idiot to alot of us now.

just so you know, 64 bit vista doesnt have flash support for 64bit iexplorer

I dont understand lol... I hate this crap nobody is actually helping me............................................................. You said that 2 gx280s would be the best, now you say 1 can perform better at some times. Then one guy tells me to get 8GB ram for vista ultimate, then one guy says 4gb ram is good, then one guy says vista ultimate wont have flash on IE. Then somehow people recommend i cut it down to $1500 even though i already got rid of all the expensive DDR3... Cant anyone give me a clear answer?

and actually if you read my threads you would see ive already dropped from $3500 to almost $2500, I'm not trying to brag about anything, im trying to not spend all this money on something that is going to suck or not work properly.

you will have problems with 64bit vista (like having to get a 32bit browser so you can use Flash), but if you want power, then that is the way to go (a 32 bit OS will only support 4GB memory, and use only about 3GB RAM). get the 8gb of RAM and disable your pagefile. get ddr2 RAM, the 780i board is perfect for you. get just one gtx280, the gains from two are minimal and dont justify the extra cost and system instablity. the system you put earlier is great, leave it at that.

just remember, the more complex your system gets (SLI, 64bit OS, 8gb ram, etc) the more things can go wrong, and the more time it will take to get it up and running. if you have the money and the patience, then you will be in store for a sweet computer.

Man you need to do some research, ask some other people, visit some stores.

Look at my build in my sig..

you would love that build...and could even swap to a different case, maybe pick a different cpu cooler etc..

I'm not saying do the same thing, but its an option that works, is fast, fun, oc's well, has great components, doesnt even come close to maxin your budget...

Forget tryin to build the biggest and baddest...build something good..for you..for your needs..not just an overpriced hunk of parts cause you wanted to show up your buddies...or brag,,or whatever your motive is.

Trust me, for 1500.00 you could build a sik machine that wont suck...

I promise you that!!!!!

Ok so if I get the 32bit IE, then it will work fine with a 64bit OS? I looked up the pagefile thing, it says disabling it can cause alot of problems with programs. DDR2 = YES 780i FTW = YES one GTX280 = YES

Im seriously not trying to brag or anything like that. I am just looking to get something that will last for a long time... like in 2 years the technology will be far better but at least I'll have an average system if I spend alot now. Or maybe I'm going the wrong way about it all, and should spend little money on a nice system and then do the same in 2 years. And I am not rich, my computer is malfunctioning and I just started college, I need to get a new computer probably using a loan and I wanted to get something good.

You said that 2 gx280s would be the best, now you say 1 can perform better at some times.

If you read what i wrote earlier, I advised against SLI or Crossfire. Then you asked me what is the best possible setup. Well I said that it is 2 GTX 280, but I also added that in some cases a single GTX 280 will perform better, but I do not personally believe in SLIing or Crossfire. It helps with very big screen and resolution, but it doesn't always help. Please go have a look at Tom's Hardware charts and try to compare the frames per seconds you can get with this and this card. With a single GTX 280, you will have an amazing computer that plays just about any game great. Crysis is a special case, as I find even now with the best hardware, it seems like it won't run AMAZING.

I understand you want help because you lack knowledge, but here are a few basic advice.

1. Don't SLI, don't Crossfire
2. For gaming go for Core 2 Duo, for HEAVY multitask go Quad Core
3. Don't plan on overclocking yet, get some more knowledge first.
4. Get the best GPU you can now and upgrade to a better one when this one doesn't suit your needs anymore.
5. Stick with DDR2
6. 2gb RAM is a good enough, 4gb is great, 8gb isn't used in 99.9% situations.
7. Don't go cheap on the PSU (You already got that)
8. Getting 2 Hard drive can be interesting, either to have your o/s on 1 and the rest on the others or to run them in RAID.
9. To overclock or to leave room to overclock, use intel based motherboards, such as P45 or X48(they are a bit pricy tho)

Yeh no problem man...sorry if I seemed harsh to you...

I just hate seeing people blow money when they don't have too, didnt mean to jump on yeh

Your on the right track though....ur system will be good man.

hmm but SLI seems to be the only thing i've been looking at.. does anyone else have a problem with it?

Here is what I did

and if im only having 1 graphics card, i could lower my power supply to 750 wat probaby. I just need to decide on the ram and power supply and possibly OS, unless anyone has problems with anything else.

Scooter is right, you really don't need that much money to build a silky smooth gaming machine. Why spend $2500+ if all you need is $1500? But that's up to you.

I checked out ebay, and found a company called LU computers. They sell fully built and overclocked PC's... I think they are relatively cheap in price too. Here is the computer (i changed it a bit, added the 280)

good? compatible? The only thing I don't really know about is that the graphics card says something about DDR3 where the rest of the system is DDR2

And to answers your questions.

- You're NOT goingto benefit from 8GB of RAM over 4GB unless you do some heavy graphics applications or animation rendering. That means you can stick with a 32-Bit OS which is more stable.
- About SLi or Crossfire, it doesn't double your performance if that's what you are wondering. If you get 2 x GTX280's that doesn't mean you will have twice the FPS (frames per second) or that it will double your performance over one GTX280. In fact, most of the time, a dual card configuration will give you a 40% performance boost over having one card. That is why some people are not recommending to go Dual Card. And that is of course only opinion, if you feel like you NEED all that power, go ahead.
- About GDDR3, that is the VRAM of the video card and is copmletely different from the system memory type. This means that if you get DDR2 memory for your system, you can still have a GDDR3 or GDDR4 or even GDDR5 video card and it will work 100%.
- DDR2 vs DDR3 system memory. At this point in time, DDR3 memory is overpriced and is not yet the main type of memory. Wait until DDR2 begins to get old, then DDR3 memory will drop and that's when you would need to upgrade. But that won't happen anytime soon.
