they are developing games that can take advantage of the second core to gain performance. They wil still work on single core as good as possible, but when in a system with the extra core the games will benefit from the boostSLi WooDy said:id still go for the 3700 san diego........ and why does everyone keep sayin that games are goin to take full advantage of duel core, why would game developers produce games that only 10% of computer users get the best from???/ .......i know that if id spent £500 on a single core fx cpu {for gaming} and a 4000 duel core would make the game better id be pissed, i doubt games will take advantage of duel core any time soon unless they want to loss profit.....
and as i original stated has he considered an opteron, if his thinkin about OCin an FX surely an opteron would be worth considering........
Very true, such as programs like photoshop, they can still work great on single cores, but they would be able to take advantage of the multiple cores.apj101 said:they are developing games that can take advantage of the second core to gain performance. in laymans terms each core is able to execute a single thread at once, and an application may start mutliple threads each thread performing a different task. To give an example is a game.SLi WooDy said:plz correct me if im wrong but i thought duel core had the ability to run 2 applications the same as a single core could run 1, as a game is only a single application how can it take advantge, core speeds the same etc ok photoshop maybe but games???
is "games will be able to soon to take advange of duel core" just a marketin ploy by cpu manufacturers just to improve on duel core sales.....
and also how long now has duel core been around? ive yet to see a game or read of a game that will take advantage of duel core.
depends on which px to which x2, but as a general rule, i'd say your rightEncore4More said:i dont think the performance differenct of the X2 and FX is as big as the price difference

Also look into dual core opterons. I have one and if you can get your hands on one they overclock very well. I have a FX-60 for half the cost.
well wut do mean by high?stolz said:I think the title explains it
i was previously thinking about the 4400+, i heard problems about the 4800 and ehard that you can OC the 4400+ up to the 4800+ speed. Now i am wondering, is it worth the extra money to get a FX-55? My budget is high but limited keep in mind
Charles_Lee said:what makes you say that? that you have fx 60 for the half price?
you know as well as you can overclock your opteron,
you can overclock fx-60 also, i heard there is unlocking multiplier or something that allows fx series to work optimum.
