If that 300 buck price is correct there will be no reason to own a 8800gt, unless of course the price is cut on the latter.

Remember that ATi/AMD released two new graphics cards today, with the $170 model almost equal to the 2900XT, and the $210 model crushing both :)

They really do pretty good for 180- 220 buck cards. Nvidia has a big hole open between the 8600GTS and the 8800GT/GTS

I'm getting the 3870 because it's cheaper, within spitting distance of the 8800gt, runs cooler and quieter and I don't need the extra performance.

I think it'll be par with the 640Mb 8800gts (maybe jsut under it), but it'll consume (much?) less power and run cooler would be my gues :)

Im planning on getting the 8800 GT Ultra and im not sure whether its worth the price to SLI it with another, its getting the highest benchmarks right now but is the 25-30% upgrade worth it?

8800 GT Ultra

I don't think there's such a thing, do you mean the 8800 Ultra, or the 8800 GT?

Nah, SLI isn't worth it, at most you see like a 10-12% performance increase, not worth it. Plus SLI drviers are flakey at the moment.
