Game and Video Card Issues

Hi

I have having all sorts of trouble playing all my games such as WOW, C&C3 and Fear. They all freeze and jam up in game every few min however i am having no issues at all out side of games. Internet surfing and general computer use is fine. I have tried reinstalling all games and reducing all video options in game to as low as possible the still get the same problem. I am thinking that maybe its my video card witch is a 6800 ultra and has been working fine up to this issue atm. Any help would be great.

It sounds sudden, so the Video card is probably damaged.
Try to put a friend's card in your system and see if it'll run the games correctly.
If so, you'll probably have to get a new Video card.
 
That's an older card could just be time for an upgrade, how exactly does it "freeze" can you still here the audio in the background? It sounds like an overheating problem possibly, make sure you check your temps.
 
i think the 6800 just isnt enough for fear and cnc3

an 8600 can run those games on med/high

and my 8600 is only a little > my 7900
and a 7900 is > an 6800
 
113c HOT. Take that thing out and clean the fan. Since its a 6800 its probable been in there for awhile. But like said above its time to upgrade for newer games..
 
the 6800 is more that enough for cnc3 i can play it on an nvidia 6100gs on a laptop, and still get playable frames on vista
