I have a e6420 dual core proccessor and half life 2 requires 2.9 ghz..when i try to run the game it pops up a warning saying that my processor doesnt meet the 2.9ghz requirement and i will ahve to run it on my own risk? Is it ok to run it still?

Yes it's fine to run it still. You cannot damage anything by runnning a program that thinks it needs a faster CPU. At worst it will run slowly but in your case it will run normally as that requirement wasn't meant for Core 2s.

I remember Ship Simulator 2006 throws up an error because my E6300 runs at 1.86Ghz and it needs a minimum of 2.4GHz, yet it still runs. Very well in fact.

well, technically with a dual core CPU you have two cores running at 2.13Ghz, so your computer has a total of 4.26ghz processing power, that is why games run nicely

dual cores don't calculate that way, you can't just add them together.

yeah i know. actually, if there is software designed for dual core than you can, but i was making a lame attempt at explaining why a 2.13ghz c2d is faster than a 3.2ghz p4 or whatever

C2D is faster than P4 not only because it is dual core but it can do more instructions per clock.

Actually, each core in C2D is faster than P4
