Game wont install

im having this huge problem that any game i attempt to install wont actually install

it either just ends and returns to the desktop or says the wizard was interrupted before it could finish the installation

Can you install things other than games? Try something else just to see. Scan for adware. Maybe a spyware program is disrupting the install process. You can try to reinstall windows also. Using a system restore point might help too. A less drastic step, however, might be to open msconfig (start > run > msconfig), choose startup tab, and uncheck any unnecessary boxes. Boxes related to your antivirus software should obciously remain checked because you want your antivirus software to start when your computer starts, but many other things may not be necessary. However, if you choose to do this, uncheck with caution. Find out online what the ".exe" you are unchecking is for by entering it into google, or by searching in the directory it's located at for clues as to what it is for.

Try windows update maybe for an update to your version of the Windows Installer (don't know the exact name ).

i still have the same problem i can install games like half life 2 but not far cry or the movies

how do you try to install it? What operating sytem do you have? Mac pc?

Telling us what system you have and what game your trying to install would be a nice start

my comp is

windows xp service pack 2
Amd athlon xp 2600+ 1.91ghz
512mb ram
nvidia geforce 2 mx/mx 400
80gig HD 5400rpm
LITE-ON COMBO SOHC-5232K cd/dvd

Games i can install :

Half life 2
world of warcraft
unreal tournament 2004

games that wont install are :
far cry
the movies
fable
comand and conquer genrals

what happens is that the game is installing but right at the end it will cut out or say that "the wizard was interrupted try another time to install the product" and take me back to the desktop even the shortcut of the game will be on my desktop but clicking it does nothing also there is no blue screen error

Are you trying to install them on an Administrator or Limited account?

Its been awhile since i played some of those games, do all of them use "Installshield" or "Demoshield" by any chance?
