i wouldnt go with that computer.
what is your budget for this gaming computer you want to get.
also may i recommend that you build your own. you will get much better parts for the price than if you would buying one from a company.

+1 I'm going to be building a computer for my cousin in the near future and it's going to cost him around $740. If he was going to buy the computer from a company, it would probably cost him around $1500.

Its true you should just build your own, you'd get better parts. Get a later core2duo in my oppinion and get better graphics card(s) i'd reccomend a 9800GTX+ or GTX280.

at least a gtx280 if you want to run chrysis on high settings.

thats utter poo, i can run crysis with everything at very high at 1440X900 with 4xAA and get around 30fps with my 8800GT's, a gtx280 is overkill unless your folding or using running a screen at 2500X1600

2 880gt's is different story. my 1 4870 has a hell of a hard time. sli is good for high resolutions. and if he gets one powerful card now he can then sli it later.

dont need to have sli on, it only drops by 5fps with it disabled, 4870? i thought you have a 285?

I guess your 8800gt's are special or something. but im replacing my 4870 because it wasnt quite cutting it, the 285 gets here tomorrow.

well i was looking to spend around 1000 so... any tips or pointers you could give me would be great :)
with $1,000 you have tons of options and you will most definantly get to where you want your pc to be..first things first though, do you know how to build a computer?

looks nice.
i would only recommend a quad core instead of the dual core. more and more games are starting to utilize all 4 cores and it will help you future proof your investment.

this way you will not have to buy a new processor sooner than you would have, if you buy a quad core now.
i recommend:

I think you are talking to me. Ive gone back and forth on everything with that build trying to do the best with a 900$ budget. I think I have it pretty good. Ive decided against the quad. I know it would be more practical for the future but right now the faster dual cores seem to outperform the slower quads. Im sure once applications are created to utilize the quad cores that will change. Ill take the increased performance now and worry about it later. Who knows what they will come out with next.
