Games keeps crashing at main menu! Possible driver issue!

Arhhhh!!!

Ok i have a 9600 xt and i am having a problem with my source games that keep crashing at main menu, so then i decided to uninstall all ati drivers and run driver cleaner, after i installed the omega drivers and rebooted, then i went to open cs:s and it crashes on start up! AGAIN.
I think this is happening with new games..... arpart from a few that are not crashing....
Do you know what to do? Or am i pernamently stuck with this?

I currently have the 5.8 CATALYST DRIVER SUITE as my currently driver which i thought would work with SOURCE GAMES, but i guess not....

I know the omega drivers arnt installed properly as i go to the hardware section in dxdiag and it still says the original 2004 drivers.... and the source games still keep crashing!! and there the 6.3 version as well! wth!

And i KNOW this card work with new games battlefield 2, hl2, ect.... since my friend has one at college and he has the same drivers, thing is that mine wont install! Please help!
 
How long ago did you get this card? Apart from this question, it looks like you have 1 of 2 problems, either the card is bad, or you are having a software conflict somewhere. You might try installing the drivers again without your AV running.

I installed this card on wednesday. It works fine, no crashes apart from when it runs games like battlfield 2 and hl2 and cs:S, no all ew games crash, but most do.

Whats is AV?
