Games R freezing

Ok lets start with one issue at a time. In Tf2 when oi load maps sometimes 40% i get an error saying " Can't load lump 53, allocation of 11560789 bytes failed!!! " There is a link to a microsoft patch on the steam support page, and the microsoft page is http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105 And it tells you to download the thing at the bottom. I did an installed but didnt fix it. Should i do it again?
 
i think you can safely say you that's it's pretty much a hardware problem.
2 things left do:
- install latest directx
- if that doesn't help reinstall windows

then you can call Dell for support. It's probably a faulty video card or possibly your psu.

did you download the latest directx here?

if not please do.

psu is your power supply. If it doesn't provide enough or stable power your computer will start to act up under heavy load.
 
my bad for double posting but why wouldnt i have the lastest version of direct X? Its a 200mb download i no it will take 10 mins for me... but rly... shouldnt it be latest version? someway to check? ty
 
yea you should be able the check the version number of yours to the one hosted by microsoft. But i dont know where to find that in vista.
 
DirectX version: Dx10. I dont think that what u guys wanted. But i dont no exactly what u need. I went into dxdiag. All the infomation shows up. What exactly do u guys need?
 
your probably up to date but if i'm correct it's displayed right after Dx10.
but i suggest you call Dell for some hardware support really

and ehhh what were you thinking on saying?
My games are freezing is a start.
You can tell them you've updated your directx, video drivers, updated vista.
and you still have problems.
 
K well Sigh I hate customer support....well i guess i have to. All suggestions are still highly welcome. Thankyou all for everything so far and in advance for anything more. Bed time :D
