I've started to have this problem. I have a few games on my Pc which up until yesterday worked fine. The only game that works is Flight Simulator 2002. What happens is i click the games .EXE File and it goes to start as normal. The Title Screen comes up but then a few seconds later it minimizes itself to the taskbar. I click the taskbar and the game comes up again but again a few seconds later minimizes. Its driving me mad and I bet the problem is a simple one! I would be grateful for any help. Thanks:cool:

Im running XP Pro

Direct X 9

512mb Memory

Graphic Card all normal

Have you installed any type of game minimzer recently? That would one immediate thought there if there are no other problems to be with Windows.

Are those games full screen?
There could be a background program running that is interrupting the games. Check your programs to see what's active and running.

Sometimes aintivirus utilities can play havoc with some games. Try disabling any temporarily and try running the games then.

I turned off my Anti-Virus and it did not help. I checked running tasks and there was nothing there that should not have been.I've done an Ad-Aware Scan and nothing. I cant understand why Flight Sim 2002 works fine but no other games at all

Hmmm

Just a thought. Could it be that you are running a distributed software program such as FOLDING@HOME or SATA@HOME? Those are known to cause problems that you are describing.

Ok. I just did a Dxdiag test on the system. When I click direct 3d acceleration it starts the test and then comes up with (you cancelled the test by pressing a key) even though i did not. I think this is where the problem lies. It is a 3d problem. Does anyone know what i can do? I tried reinstalling Directx9,new drivers for the graphics card etc etc but nothing has changed

The make and model video card might help here as well as running the msconfig to not only the startup group but the next services tab where you hide all MS services to reduce things there. Another idea would be to try the system file checker to see if system files are corrupted or missing. You would type in "sfc /scannow" at the Run prompt off of the Start menu and press enter. That will ask to verify system files. So have the installation disk onhand.
