Gaming Build

I know theres tons of these posts but thats what makes it hard to find the right anwsers. I've tinkered with computers but never built one. I'm not building it yet but trying to decied what to put in it. It's going to be a gaming computer and a little bit of media. Things I'm considering are...

i7 or i5?
or maybe AMD instead of Intel?

How should I approach graphics?
I mainly play WOW and some CSS.

Is it a good idea to start out with a base and upgrade as time proggresses or save up and get the best at one time.

I want to start the build the end of May once I get some money and at that time my budget will be around $1000.

for $1000 you should be able to get a pretty good starting rig. you can always build off of what you start with. just make sure you get things that won't have to be replaced when you upgrade further down the road. what other games are you looking to play?
