Gaming Capable Laptop

so i've been assembling my own desktop PCs since i was 12. i have never owned a laptop in all this time (mostly for performance reasons), but lately i've been feeling like it could come in handy.

i could sit outside and surf the web or play my games when theres nothing else to do, be able to have access to the internet on the go. alienware seems pricey (pay more for the name?), other than that i'm not too laptop savy, as far as who makes a solid computer at a reasonable price. i hate the idea that i can't just build my laptop, so some customization in the ordering process would be a bonus. i don't want garbage bundled software, so i'd like to avoid gateway, dell, etc just for that reason.

honestly i just want to be able to play new games, world of warcraft... other more graphics heavy games: bioshock, COD4, RS:V... again just play the games, not push the graphics to the max.

i was hoping to spend $1,000-$1,500, physical size of the laptop does not matter. hoping for 1-2gigs of ram, dual-core of some sort, 256mb v-ram, 80g hd (all rough estimates)

Any laptop you buy is gonna have garbage bundled software. Personally I would suggest a Dell, mainly cause you want to customize it, and you can get an nvidia geforce 8600GT, which would be able to play the games you mentioned. I personally have never encountered any problems with any Dell (including my friend who's had his desktop for several years), and they come with much less bundled software than say an HP or a Compaq, or especially a Sony.

Just my 2 cents
