Gaming computer 600-700

AMD or Intel?

Hi, I've been lurking in awhile for a build, but I can't find a thread that relates to me, so I'm making this one. I'm looking for a $600-700 build, no OS. Any sites/stores are welcome; I live in Maryland. It seems that people are suggeting AMD for buggets close to mine, and 5770 or 460 for video cards. I'm clueless about everything else, so any help would be appreciated.

Haha, yeah I meant to say win7 64. Is it necessary for me to get a new monitor, or I can just use an old one and run games at the same speed? Also would this build be easy to assemble?
 
you can use any monitor you want. Newer and bigger ones are just nicer. I use an hd tv and a crt for my monitors. And if you've ever build a pc before, than you know it's easy, so I'm guessing you haven't.
 
I was just wondering if this particular build is any harder/easier than other ones. And I have an unused 32 tv, would that work as a monitor?
 
Not at all. Just a standard build. I didn't look at the case or psu which, really, are the only things that could make it any more difficult. If the case is poorly constructed, You might have tight squeezes or have to really stretch cables. For the psu, if there aren't enough cables or they aren't long enough, that'll give you a hard time. But, really, if you haven't had much experience building, make sure you ask for help.

And that tv will work fine. You'll need either an hdmi cable or a dvi cable and an audio cable.

It depends on the type of TV it is. If it is an old CRT tv....no, that will not make an ideal display. If it is an LCD display, then yes it would work, it would be preferable if the display is 1080p(1920x1080) for a decent resolution. Also, sometimes you may run into some issued when using a TV as a monitor, such as it not being centered correctly, but generally those issues are easy to address.
 
The optical drive you listed has an IDE/PATA connection. This drive will still work with the moterboard listed in bomberboysk's build, however you will have to use a wide ribon cable instead of the newer smaller SATA cable. The SATA cable is much easier to rout, and is the replacement for the IDE/PATA cables. I would go for an SATA model.
