Gaming computer build help

Ok. I have decided to build my first computer. I have decent knowledge of computers but this will be my first time building one.

Here is what I have picked out so far:

Processor - AMD Phenom ii X6 1090T Black Ed

Motherboard - Asus Xtreme design. M487TD/USB3

Memory - Patriot Viper Extreme 8GB DDR3 2000.

HDD - Seagate FreeAgent Desk 1TB

Disc Drive - 4x Blu Ray

Graphics Card - HD Radeon 6870 1GB

Operating System - Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

PC Case

Here is my questions.

1. Will these work properly together?

2. What Power supply would be best in voltage?

3. Do I need a aftermarket cooling fan?

4. Am I missing anything else in the hardware section on this computer?

5. With my graphics card how much more powerful is it compaired to console gaming?

I have been in console gaming for a while but I want to take things up a few notches.

For gaming, 6 cores isn't needed as a processor, I'd go with:

Same price as the 955 as of right now, it's a good deal, great for gaming.

I can't find your motherboard, do you have a link to it?

Thanks for the reply. I heard that the one you showed me on their was "getting old" Does it matter? It will take me 2 months to get everything I need but I figured it would be worth it.

Here is the motherboard I was looking at.

Hope my questions dont seem too dumb :(

HDD - Seagate FreeAgent Desk 1TB???
That is external HDD...

PSU - 500W good quality brand

Your build will work fine every thing is compatible and @daisymtc i beilieve he may be harvesting the hard disk from the external enclosure or just have it connected through usb but that would be much slower.

The only need for a 6-core processor at the moment is for video editing / cad / programming / etc. I just built a quad-core 3.3 with around the same GPU you have listed and it runs all my games perfectly on max settings.
