Gaming Computer Build - is it good?

Recently, I saved up enough money for a gaming computer. I did a bit of research, and came up with this build, which adds up to roundabout 1489$. But, seeing as I am not the best with computers, could you guys check if this is a good gaming PC build (my younger sibling is potentially looking to record gameplay as well, so yeah....)

CHIPSET: Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz (LGA-1150)
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Z87-C (LGA-1150)
COOLING FAN: Boxed Cooling Fan (1150pin)/Intel BXRTS2011AC Cooler (LGA-2011)
VIDEO CARD: 2GB Radeon HD 7870 PCI-E VGA Card
MEMORY: 8GB DDR3 1333 Memory
HARD DISK: Seagate 2TB SATA3 Hard Disk
CASE: Thermaltake V3 USB3.0 Mid Tower with 500W PSU
MONITOR: 23.6” ASUS VE247H 2ms HDMI DVI SPK Monitor 23.6” ASUS VE247H 2ms HDMI DVI SPK Monitor
KEYBOARD AND MOUSE: Gigabyte KM-5300 Desktop (Keyboard + Mouse)
NETWORK CARD: Gigabit 10/100/1000 Fast Network Card (Integrated)
SPEAKERS: Creative SBS T10 2.0 Speakers System
OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows 8 64bit (let me know which is better, Windows 7 or 8)
SOUND CARD: High Definition Audio CODEC 5.1 Channel Sound Integrated

Also, is it worth it if I spend an extra 75$ to upgrade my memory to 16gb?

Your build seems good compared to mine. One thing about recording is write speed, and it all depends on how fast your HDD can write things. The higher the write speed the higher file fps. And you dont need 16gigs of Ram unless you'll be doing some hardcore editing.

And yes i make Youtube Videos So i Should Know. And windows 7 is better

No, don't spend $75 on a extra RAM, but I would spend it instead on a better GPU. I am assuming your network card, soundcard is simply what comes on the motherboard?

For gaming, definitely windows 7.

Yeah definitely upgrade to a more powerful card if you can. The 7870 is great and all but if you can put extra money in go 7950 or 7970 or maybe go for the GTX 770.

I would probably downgrade the CPU to an i5-4670k, get 8GB DDR3-1600 RAM instead of 1333, MSI Z87-G43 Gaming, a better GPU like GTX 760/HD 7950 and possibly see if you can get an SSD, like the Samsung 840 Evo 120GB, as well.
I wouldn't run a i7-4770k+GTX 770 build on a PSU of 500W that comes with a case, costing quite a bit less than a PSU and a case separately. i5+760/7950 is still pushing it in my opinion.

Ok, for the guys that said that I should get a better Graphics Card, would a 3gb Radeon HD 7950 PSI-E VGA card do better? Would it even be compatible with the build?

All the information you give is that it's a 7950 with 3GB RAM. We need more, preferably a link. But yes, any 7950 would be compatible with the system.
I would still recommend that you look at another case+PSU setup. Especially if you want a high end graphics card, as you need enough amps on the 12v rail - and I can't find any information on the PSU included.
