Alright heres the deal i have built a computer with help from this forum now a buddy wants me to help him. I am confident in the building process just not in my component selection. anyone want to pick out some parts to a gaming computer for around 800 bucks american. no monitor needed or mouse or keyboard. we have a extra sound card on hand so thats not necessary either. it will be used for mild gaming dual core is a must. could sli be fit in the budget? thanks

If you need the hundred dollars (for an OS) I would downgrade the video card until a cheaper alternative for dx10 cards come out, or ATI's new card comes out. As far as SLI you maybe be able to through in a mobo in that price range that supports it but you will have to seriously downgrade everything if you want a system with it. That memory is excellent and the case could use another tricool fan by antec and it would be setup.

You can always OC the 1.86 c2d to at least 2.4 with the stock HSF with little issue.

Hope I helped.

everyone keeps saying when the dx10 cards come out and so on when is that gonna be? and i hear that everything drops in price around may so is this a bad time to get stuff?

The dx10 cards are out but the cheapest one is 299.00. The 8600 ultra is coming soon and should be relatively cheap.

ATI is supposed to have their R600 card out by the end of Q1 2007. Then in April the R610 and R630 are supposed to be out by April 2007.

My guess is nVidia will follow intel lead by dropping prices on their equipment once ATI makes their launch. Right now its a waiting game and a good time to be patient :)
