Gaming Computer For the Price?

I have been looking to buy a new computer for gaming and I'm looking to spend around 1000$ on it. Is this computer a good buy for the money? Also could you tell me if it is lacking anything?

Nice find, i don't think you could do any better if you build a system like that

also whill this monitor work well with the video card on that computer?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001273

Yes that will work.

Thanks, I appriciate your help. Are there any other monitors that you would recomend that would be better or cheaper?

There is a couple things that I wouldn't like with that computer, one is the motherboard....it is a $50 special. The 580w power supply....ibuypower can not even list a name brand of that power supply. I would be willing to bet it is also a special deal.

I would guess you can go to the actual site and configure a better computer for a better price. I went to the site and configured the same computer with a lot better hardware and it's only about $100 more. And if you order by Oct 7th it has free shipping. With the shipping cost of Newegg...it's like almost the same price! In the end I think you'll be much better with a custom configured system :) This will also leave you better options to upgrade in the future.

^ What do you mean more upgrade in the future? Look at the computer he can buy....OMG

Case ; Nzxt Lexa Blackline with red Cold Cathode Neon Light
PSU ; Corsair CMPSU-650TX
CPU ; Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E8500
motherboard ; Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 Chipset

You add all that up and see if you can get that for about $1100. That's a heck of a computer for the price. And shipping is free! If you have ever built a computer piece by piece....you will know how much shipping charges add up for all the pieces.

NZXT LEXA BlackLine for $99 plus $62 shipping = $163
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146038

Corsair CMPSU-650TX for $110 plus $25 shipping = $135
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E8500 for $190 plus $6 shipping = $196
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115036

ASUS P5Q Pro for $140 plus $17 = $157
http://secure.newegg.com/Shopping/ShoppingCart.aspx?submit=ChangeItem

CORSAIR XMS (could not find it on Newegg) but the average for Corsair 2GB DDR 2 is about $55 plus $6 shipping = About $60

Evga 9800 GTX for $161 plus $14 shipping = $175
http://secure.newegg.com/Shopping/ShoppingCart.aspx?Submit=view

320 Hard drive for $60 plus $10 shipping = $60
http://secure.newegg.com/Shopping/ShoppingCart.aspx?Submit=view

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium for $100 plus $6 shipping = $106
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116488

Sony NEC Optiarc Black for $18 plus $10 shipping = $28
http://secure.newegg.com/Shopping/ShoppingCart.aspx?Submit=view

And that ends up right at the same price he can buy it for. And I did not even add all the stuff that comes with the computer from ibuypower! If you do the math and are a little intimidated by building your own computer....it is actually a really good deal if you think about it smart guy!

why no custom build? for 1000$ you could get a much better computer than that + be able to upgrade later on...;)

Yes i would've recommend he do a custom build, but you wouldn't be able to do any better if you did!

Exactly, around the same price.

Click on this link, it will take you to a special page.

http://www.ibuypower.com/mall/weeklySpecial.html

once you get there scroll down to Special A and select it. Those specials on that page are free shipping. I built the computer I listed above with Special A. It did not state the dates of the free shipping so it can end anytime really. When I configured it it was free shipping.

32bit is fine and will work with everything great. I am sure you have heard all the bad stuff about Vista...but I and a lot of other people have never had a problem with it. I have Vista Ultimate 64bit on my laptop for about 2 years now. I bought a copy the day it was released and it has never given me any problems. I also run Vista Home Premium 64bit on my desktop and never had problems with that.

You can save yourself some money when you configure a computer there, the recommendation I threw up was just that....a recommendation. You will get so much more if you build a computer from the website rather than buy it from Newegg.

awesome, thanks for the help I appriciate it. Why should I not get 64 bit? What is the main difference?

A 64-bit computer can process twice as much information as a 32-bit computer, and can have significantly more random access memory (RAM). This makes a 64-bit computer a good choice if you're working with video, large database searches, or games and other programs that require complex calculations and a lot of memory. A 32-bit computer works very well for most programs, however. For example, spreadsheet programs, web browsers, and word processing programs will run at about the same speed on either a 32-bit or a 64-bit computer. For Windows Vista x64 Edition, Microsoft also requires a digital signature on all drivers. By requiring new, signed drivers, Microsoft aims to reduce failures and improve stability by shining a spotlight on vendor responsibility for bugs. If you choose an Intel E8400 or E8500 understand those are 64-bit processors.

I have always used 64-bit operating systems...that's just my personal choice. If you Google it you can find many comparisons between the two. Some people like 32-bit and some prefer 64-bit.
