Gaming Computer for under $600

Hello, I'm trying to build a gaming pc for under 600. I have never built a computer before and i am wondering what type of motherboards, sound cards, video cards, RAM, and memory are necessary for this. If you can help me and be as specific as you can, I would greatly appreciate it.

What kind of games are you going to play? Do you already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, OS?
 
i will be playing the newer games like black ops, civilization, etc. I already have the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and speakers. I need everything else though
