gaming computer setup so far... motherboard suggestions?

I need a motherboard, sound card suggestion, and i want to know what fans i should buy that would go with the case I'm going to purchase. All my parts will be bought from NewEgg.com

search newegg for mobos with the right socket for your cpu obviously and if you want to crossfire add that to your search and that should narrow down your choices.

crossfire is combining two or more (up to four at the moment) gpus to use at once. depending on the applications, you can achieve close to 90% improvements. however, you are getting an nvidia card, so you want a board with sli, nvidia's version of crossfire.

what kind of budget are you working with here?

have you already bought the rest of the parts?

that case will not require any extra fans, it comes with all of the necessary ones. unless you plan on getting ones for the side panel?

what kind of things are you hoping to do with this pc? gaming wise, what sort of games do you play and what settings are you hoping for?

Your case should come with fans, but under "fans" or "cooling" on newegg there are plenty of other stuff e.g. CPU coolers, case fans etc.

i don't think that board supports sli.

My budget/plan is to build as the money comes so anything is good... I havn't got any of the parts yet because I'm trying to get peoples input on it. I'm not planning on using it for super complex games probably some of the newer strategy games, and roleplaying games.. But if I see a good game I want my computer to be able to handle it on good settings. Its not going to be used just for games since I'm still a student and use the internet almost everyday.

a 460 should be good for you then :good: but make sure you get a board with "sli" in case you want to do that in the future.

i would just get a phenom ii 955 b.e. it is basically the same processor except .2 ghz slower, which you can easily overclock to. but MAKE SURE you get the one that ends in GM. that one is the c3 stepping, which you want ;) i would also recommend (highly) that you get an aftermarket cooler. it depends if you plan on doing any overclocking.

You won't notice the difference between intergrated mobo sound and a cheap dedicated sound card (~$50) Creative do some good ones, though personally I think that mobo sound is fine. Unless you work in an industry to do with sound, that is
