I am new to this forum, and first want to thank everyone for all the useful information on here. I am building my own computer for the first time, and would like everyones input on which parts are more reliable then others, and their stability.

For my CPU I am looking at the AMD 64 socket 939. Not sure which one. And what is the main difference between San Diego and Venice? I see that the 3700+ is only .2Ghz faster then the 3200+....any reason why? Anyone have experience with these, how do the perform and which do you prefer?

As for mother boards.....I hear all kinds of different things. How are the SLI boards? I am looking for a board that is very reliable and stable... I am looking for 2 slots for memory which will hold up to 4 Ghz of Ram, and at least 4 PCI anyone have any suggestions? What is the difference between APG, PCI and PCI express slots? I know the APG slots are getting fazed out.

And the last thing is the VIDEO card. I hear that you should get at least 256 of memory. What are some good ones you guys/girls have with great results?? Looking for something in the price range of $150 or less. How about the North Bridge.....what is the difference?

I'll leave the CPU thing to some1 else,

As for SLI mobo's, you won't find one with 4 PCI slots, you are limited if you get an AGP mobo since gfx card with that interface are not in make as much as PCI-E, you'd be better of getting a PCI-Express mobo. Most reliable brands are Asus and DFI, however, other ones are not bad too.

As for your gfx card, 7600GT is a nice choice for less than $150.

EDIT:

Difference between Venice and San Diego is the L2 cache, Venice has 512KB while SD has 1MB
