Gaming Controller for PC?

Hello all. I have a few racing games that I play and probably more will be added to my library as time wears on. I've been told that having a gaming controller would help with those games and I can see the point.

On a keyboard it's always either completely left/right or, straight. Not much in between.

I'm interested in getting a decent game controller for PC games. Any suggestions for good ones?

Budget is as low as possible without it being a piece of junk.

Thanks!

Not the cheapest, but I would get the Xbox 360 controller for windows. I use it on my racing games and I love it. Being able to half throttle and turn less than 100% made a big difference in the games that I played. If you do get that one make sure that it is the wired one for windows. Don't buy a wireless adapter for the regular 360 controller. It won't work :(

using a normal xbox pad and wireless adapter does work as thats what i did

Theres a bit of messing about on w7 but other than it it works perfectly.

But i agree, your best off getting the 360 controller. Much better than the ps3 look alikes

i am thinking of getting a wired Xbox controller for PC i have a gaming controller already will post a pic when i find it.

it does make the difference

dude!
for racing games i would highly recommend a racing wheel.
the force gt for about 150 should be enough and will give you a much better experience than a controller.
you can try looking for used ones, i have an old driving force pro that i play grid on pc and gt5 on ps3 and it is just great.

Guess I'll take out my Microsoft Xbox steering wheel and give it a try with dirt 3

150 is a bit much. Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely look into a 360 controller. The only console I have in the house is a 10 year old PS2.
