Ok well i know this is a age old debate.

Now what is better for games?
And what is better generally?

Intel Quad

or

AMD Phenom.

Cause im deciding what to get and many people are always telling me to get AMD for games.

SO im tryna find out why

The Intel Core 2 series is much better then the AMD X2 or Phenom series clock for clock. I would go with the E8400 however for gaming, rather then the Q6600.

What about the new quads. In time im sure they will be better and faster (once games are made better for them)I want something that will last (i know that wont happen, but you know what i mean)

Well ok for games E8400
Multi tasking Q9300 or better.

but in the long run will the Quad be better?

At the moment you're better off with a dual core for gaming. Multitasking is where the Quads help (which if you do get, dont get Phenom as everybody's saying they're bad :o). Although if you want the comp to play games and you dont want to overclock, dont overlook Athlon X2's since they are much cheaper than C2D and work good at stock settings.

That's a good idea too. Get a good mobo and start with RAM and video card. Then later down the road, upgrade your CPU.

Um to use a lot of ram do i need a 64bit vista or XP?

Well see the on;y thing that puts me off buying the mobo now is that buy the end of the year, a new chipset will be out (X48 and better) so i think ill wait, till the end of year, save cash and pwn
