Can anyone tell me their experiences with gaming in Windows 7?
Do games run better? Do they lag from compatibility issues? Etc.

I run Windows 7 RC X64 as my main os,Its fantastic for gaming.

Not had any issues.

Well for me i didnt need any drivers other than Sound card and Graphics,Both from which they have Windows 7 drivers for.

My sound card drivers are a bit dodgy though for 7,It plays up sometimes.

im rocking windows 7 professional from my connections with msdn. windows 7 > all. it installs every driver for you, including video drivers.

It worked for me except Punkbuster was running a "Disallowed API".

Not sure if PB has updated yet for the release.

This was for Battlefield 2142. The game worked fine, just PB didn't.

Will it work fine with the right drivers? yes
Will it improve your gaming performance from vista? no not reely (or not by anything worth mentioning)
Will it improve my gaming visuals/experience? once dx11 comes out and cards for it are out we'll know. But u wud need a dx11 card to enjoy that anyway.

Thanks for all the replies, guys.
Another question: Will I be able to use just an upgrade disc to 7 ultimate to go from the RC to the Ultimate?

If you are running the Windows 7 Release Candidate, and you have activated it, you will not need to reinstall an older version of Windows before using an Windows 7 upgrade disk.

However, you will not be able to do an upgrade installation, in which your existing programs and data are left in place. Instead, you'll have to do what Microsoft calls a custom installation.

Click here for more info on the "Custom Installation"

It's not that bad really.

This is essentially a clean install, but your existing operating system, programs and data are squirreled away in a folder labeled WINDOWS.OLD. You end up with a fresh Windows 7 setup, but you can access that folder to get to any needed data. (Sorry, the programs in there won't work - you'll need to reinstall them.)
