I wanted to know if a keyboard is better for gaming if the connection is usb or ps/2 like if the connection effects how many buttons can be pressed simoutaniously.

I'm sure people will beg to differ, but the last USB keyboards I tried gave me more problems(like being unable to hold CTRL and use the cursor keys) than my current $5 PS/2 keyboard.

if you look at all the more expensive "gaming" keyboards.. they are all USB.
but thats due to extra buttons.. wich arnt supported in PS2 i think

if you want a really good keyboard,.. I just got the Logitech G-15.. and its truly awesom... i can honestly say its the best keyboard ive ever owned :)

Would that $5 keyboard happen to be the Logitech Deluxe, cause if so, your not the only one with a $5 keyboard.

Thanks for the quick reply. Can anyone else tell me what they think is better? I'm trying to get a majority vote to see which one I should use.

If you use the USB port, some motherboards won't support it during certain stages in the boot up process, so at times you may have to use it via the PS/2 adapter.

Performance wise, there really isn't a difference, since keyboards aren't high bandwidth. However if you have a keyboard such as the G15, which have an LCD display and a USB hub, you need to use USB for it.

I like my Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse combo I got cheap at Walmart. :) I finally had to retire my oldschool HP keyboard I got back when I thought my 700Mhz Celeron and integrated graphics was awesome. :) It's now my backup, waiting quietly for my "new" technology to fail me, and for it to be able to claim its place once again.

thanks guys for all the answers. will certainly give this program a try..even though it probably won't really make a difference;)
