Gaming laptop recommendations.

Hi, im looking for a decent gaming laptop I can occasionally play some games on. I dont need the best gpu out there, just something I can play games with, do some video editing, etc. Max price is $2000 bucks. Thanks for any recommendations.

I would be looking at the asus line up for a gaming laptop, they run pretty cool which is an issue with a lot of notebooks, I hear the g1 is getting a sata rosa upgrade and will have the geforce go 8600 they may call it: asus g1p after the santa rosa upgrade.

I'd suggest the E1505 with the ATI Radeon x1400 card... that's what I have and it's extremely powerful for daily use, and doesn't lack in the gaming department. I ran Painkiller on near max settings until I got bored doing the same thing over and over on the demo, and I haven't had any problems running CSS, and I game almost daily. I run medium settings on everything just to keep the performance up, but I've never really tried it on max... the game looks amazing as it is on medium.

Also... I have the T7200 processor in mine, I'm not sure that that's available in the 1505's anymore and I don't know why. If you're going to be gaming, I'd recommend getting the EAX software with it and a good pair of headphones. When you use stereo widening... eq... all of that stuff, on CSS I can hear guys coming quite a ways before they actually get there =).

I personally would wait for santa rosa to come out.. ASUS and I am sure a lot of other manufactures are coming out with good improvements at the same price or only slightly higher.. and also allowing current models to be discounted...

Well considering he said he's not greatly concerned about having the greatest GPU... the price difference is pretty extreme too. But it's within his budget.

i suggest the one in my sig.. i payed 1,200ish for it without all the addons.. and like i said in a previous thread simular to this i watch movies and listen to music on one screen and can play css and WoW flawlessly on my hdtv with it.. runs like a champ i love it

true but for the price you can get a sony vaio AR series with the specs i got.. is not a bad deal but then agian i bought mine through www.americantv.com i got a family deal on mine so i actually only payed around 1200-1300 for it wich is damn good price.. with css playin and windows media player 11 playin music among all the other programs running i get 70-90 fps on all high settings so not to shabby

i still say this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834117458

i can get you this laptop through www.americantv.com for only 1,200 bux.. your gonna have bigger screen.. more hd space.. gig more a ram, for 300 dollars cheaper then the asus.. dont get me wrong im not argue n or sayin the asus isnt bad its awsome.. but if u want bang for the buck.. i say the vaio

just my opinion and once agian im not trying to raid on anyone parade here or bash opinions.. just giving u mine

ps. u got full 1080 hdmi capability with the sony vaio has hdmi outlet if u ever wanna play on a hdtv or go dual monitor with a serious tv.. that what i have and its freakin sick

very true.. no doubt about it i agree. i just think bang for buck wise its the way to go but def. its your decision were all just here to give you our opinions.. both laptop's the asus and vaio me and the above guy are showing you have their ups and downs about eachother.. i think we both have put enough information out their for you to soak in.. so from here on out its kinda what u think is more important

Yup, I would take size into consideration first or maybe battery life. I think the sony might be a bit expensive for the graphics card.
