Im looking to buy a laptop that will be able to play crysis at good frame rates.
Would this play it:

Processor type : Intel® Core 2 Extreme Processor X9100
clock speed : 3.06 GHz
System memory standard : 4,096 (2,048 + 2,048) MB
type : NVIDIA® GeForce® 9800M GTX supporting TurboCache™ technology
memory : 1024 MB dedicated VRAM (up to 1,791 MB total available graphics memory using TurboCache™ technology with 3 GB system memory)

if you want to be future proof regarding gaming dont buy laptop.. it will cost u more and is less upgradable...
buy a desktop with high end features install a ddr3 ram if its available in your area it is recently launched version. also get a compitable motherboard..

key tips
higher is ram better is graphic performance .. to an extent
get 4gb one
2.44 ghz processor will do fine..
decent gpu ram in range of 1gb arround will land u on a good gaming platform.

I agree with ward, in the future, the games will demand more and more. A laptop may be able to play the games for now, but later on it will cost you more money. Another thing, the gaming laptops are pretty expensive and it would probably be best to actually build your own desktop. Depends on what your budget is.

With newer and more demanding games comes newer hardware. In 2000 you would be crazy if you talked about a gaming computer, and now you can get one at a decent price that can run new games. We won't be taking a step back in technology.

If only laptops were easy to upgrade, there might be an interest of a hard core gamer, like me, to invest in a laptop rather than buy a desktop.

Anyway, I am pretty much happy with my lappy, but not satisfied. Looking ahead for a hardcore gmaing pc.

He is right, I myself had a XPS M1710. Cashed about 2k and that money now, I could have built one of the fastest possible PCcustum build from newegg for a little more coin.

Laptop- Not for gaming, I gamed on both PC and notebook, PC was far more comfortable with the keyboard and bigger screen, also you keyboard on your laptop would heat up making your hands sweat even more.

If you are considering a hardcore gaming laptop as "portable" think again. My M1710 was thick as hell. I would consider my self as fit, but it was still heavy, I only took it out on some hotel parties from high school and that's it I would dare taking it to school, too bulky and heavy.
It is more like a desktop replacement than a portable laptop. Also I don't see why gaming on a laptop would be better than on a PC, in my case I chose the laptop because of the specs, and thought a gaming laptop was "cool". Not so, it was a upgrade from my PC as far as specs were concerned, but it was slightly uncomfortable to game on (I used to play A LOT of WoW 04-08)

I highly consider a custom-build from newegg.

EDIT: In case some of you wondering I bought my M1710 from Ebay which was 2/3 for it brand new at that time.
