He is right, I myself had a XPS M1710. Cashed about 2k and that money now, I could have built one of the fastest possible PCcustum build from newegg for a little more coin.
Laptop- Not for gaming, I gamed on both PC and notebook, PC was far more comfortable with the keyboard and bigger screen, also you keyboard on your laptop would heat up making your hands sweat even more.
If you are considering a hardcore gaming laptop as "portable" think again. My M1710 was thick as hell. I would consider my self as fit, but it was still heavy, I only took it out on some hotel parties from high school and that's it I would dare taking it to school, too bulky and heavy.
It is more like a desktop replacement than a portable laptop. Also I don't see why gaming on a laptop would be better than on a PC, in my case I chose the laptop because of the specs, and thought a gaming laptop was "cool". Not so, it was a upgrade from my PC as far as specs were concerned, but it was slightly uncomfortable to game on (I used to play A LOT of WoW 04-08)
I highly consider a custom-build from newegg.
EDIT: In case some of you wondering I bought my M1710 from Ebay which was 2/3 for it brand new at that time.
