Probably will be ordering parts to build a new machine soon.I am a first time builder so I a running this by to see what people think and to see if I have chosen some incompatible parts.

I chose the windtunnel case because is is suppose to be really good on air cooling.I am kinda scared of water cooling but maybe later will try it

I am curious about the compatability of the MB and ram as well as what everyone thinks of the Hd I picked.I basically am pretty new to building and went by reviews from newegg site.

Thanks in advance for everyones help and if you spot something that could be changed that would more beneficial please post it.

Good build.

Not sure about your case, it seems huge to me.

Thx for the reply daisymtc and oscaryu1, Yeah I thought about the antec 900 for it its cooling but It supposed cable routing problems and being tight fit with both8800 gtx and ultra cards scares me a little bit.I wonder if video cards will still keep getting bigger? The gts card card i think would fit though. From what I have read though then dimensions are 22 x 9 1/2 x 21 so it suppose to be one of the smaller tower cases.I do think the 900 looks a lot better.

Is the memory I chose good for this board?

great build. but the x38 is one of if not the best chipset out right now. However it supports crossfire (ATI), why get a nvidia card on a ati chipset? You can go for the 780i, but will not overclock as well.

Just something to think about, if you get the GTS which is an awesome card, you won't be able to go with a dual card settup later on.

Your right ,I had read before in a post in one of the forums that the x38 supports crossfire and the 780i supports sli .I had thought about 2 cards later down the road but from what I read it seems to only give 10 to 30 % and that it was not worth worth it.When new single cards come out it seems as though they a huge boost in performance compared to older sli/crossfired Gpus,so I was thinking about just upgrading to latest and greatest card every couple years or so.Do you also need water cooling for 2 cards to run on the cool side compared to just 1?

Crossfire does scale better than SLI, so look for a larger performance gain.

For a single card settup the G92 GTS will out perform a single 3870.

The 3870x2 is out, but is probably out of your budget.

There is a dual 3870 card out now I think that runs another $100 or so more than a GTS.I havent seen posting about it though so I dont know how good it is? I could go over $ 2000 or so for my budget if I needed I have been saving up for quite awhile knowing I need a new comp. The main reason I am scared of water cooling is that if it leaks I have heard it can damage your system.

yeah, that card is better than the G92 GTS, its basicly two 3870's in one card.

If you decide on that one, be sure you have a case large enough for it.. ;)

yeah there are 7 reviews on newegg for it,2 of them are poor due to fit & size.I am not sure the 900 would fit them comfortably, probably need the windtunnel tower case for it anyways.

I bet thats a tight fit .Does it contact his cage? Is it possible to route the cables clean enough where it doesnt restrict airflow with that card?

It is a tight fit. The new revision of the 900 allows you to route your cables behind the mobo for better cable management. I'd recommend a modular PSU. The Ultra edges it's way into the drive cage. You wouldn't be able to install the optional fan mount that attaches to the drive cage with a card that size.
