A business partner while back introduced me into SSD drive it was amazing speeds when he would look or open up a file..

Is SSD overall good for gaming and if I do have a game installed on a SSD will it improve overall game play and speed?

I am thinking about purchasing one for my next pc or laptop what brands should I look at and stay away from?

Your maps will load faster, but your FPS probably won't be increased.

Unless you are using Server 2003, then you are on your own :P

You think Windows 2003 is bad, you should try Windows SBS 2011, with Exchange 2010. It takes a good 7-8 minutes to fully start up on our server with a quad-core Xeon and 16GB of RAM (relatively slow SATA HDDs though). Windows 2003 is almost lightning fast compared to it (and on my old server with SCSI disks the BIOSes took longer to boot than Windows did).

Brands to look for:
Intel
Samsung
Corsair

I've seen a few problems with OCZ, but try one of the three brands above and you'll be good

Games loading is usually not all hdd/ssd thing, so the results are different in different games. I've tested 2 large games so far and the loading speed was increased for about 80 - 120% due to awesome sequence transfer rate.
But i don't think its really worth it, because of the space price.
It gives most advantages in system startups / closings and application usage. Perfect drive for a system, no doubt about that. I've replaced mine and i don't think i will ever come back.
If you're looking for a drive - i recomend Kingston V300. I have transfer rates up to 520MB/s. And its very cheap proposition in comparision to other drives i looked for.

Just get the SSD.. :) Since the day I started using SSD, I cannot go back to HDD anymore other than storing large amount of information like pictures, documents, etc.

All of my games and applications are installed on my SSD and 256GB is plenty enough for me :D
