I recently build a new gaming pc and on most of my games (for example gta4, dead island, tomb raider etc...) will start but once I play for maybe 5 minutes if I'm lucky it will will turn off almost all the way. what i mean by almost is that i have a usb plugged in for my afterglow headset and i know its still on because the usb has a led light blinking constantly. but i also had led fans and those turn off completely. im really starting to get frustrated with this please someone help!

these are my parts:
intel core i5-3570k @ 3.40GHz 3.80GHz
gigabyte Z77X-UD3H motherboard
2gb geforce gtx 660 graphics card
ram 8gb corsair vengance
thermaltake TR2 600w powersupply
and i have 3 fans 2 of which are leds

i dont have much knowledge when it comes to pcs but my friend says i shouldnt be overclocked because i bought it all new and i dont know how to check my temps

I know him personally so he's told me that he doesn't think its overclocked cause he bought it and just put it in. Plus i don't think he knows how to clock or underclock the card. He also said that the processor came with some thermal paste but i'm not sure how much because my other computers processor came with some but i still put some on just in case. So might it be lack of thermal paste on the processor into the heatsink that its shutting down?

No that's not the case. Too much thermal paste is bad so don't add more. Getting any error messages? Does the Gpu have its power cables plugged in to it?

Are those temps you got when gaming or just idle?

Other possibilities are failing power supply, motherboard, or viruses.

Check your memory frequency and voltages are set correctly in the bios. Look them up on the manufacturers website if you're unsure (usually written on them too).

the temps were when i was idle and one time when it turned off and i turned it back on a blue screed appeared saying the main bios was corrupt and that the system will be recovered from the backup bios... i tried downloading the bios from the motherboards website but it said it was not compatible with my 64 bit windows.

i saw his temps in a skype call and those are when he's not doing anything. He said they go up to the 50's-60's when playing something
