Ello. I wanted to ask about CPU's. Friend on mine told me, that Quads are designed to work on pc, but not play games. Dual's are the best choise for gaming PC - so is this true?

I'm about to build PC with like:

E8400, HD4870, 4GB Ram and so on, so what do u think about that, will it play all new/future games in max details?

PS. I've also heard that HD4870 makes some annoying noises, any1 happen to cope with it?

Thanks, Ella.

not true quads are just as good as dual cores in games and in future games will be better. duals are good, but if your not planning to upgrade for a while your better off with a quad. the hd4870 is a great card, will play the latest games no problem. i dont own one myself so i cant tell you about the noises it makes

well, he said duals are better for OC. I'd oc e8400 if i bought it.

btw, i've got a 17'' monitor.

yeah you should wait till the new intel cpus come out then the quad and dual cores will drop in price. The quads can still overclock pretty well especially the q6600 which can be overclocked very well. If i was building a system now i would definately go with a quad because the new games are starting to utilize 4 cores
