Gaming/personal computer around 1000

ok folks, I am building me a computer from scratch. I kinda just want another pair of eyes to look over and give me some opinions. I know quite a bit about computers so i realize that most of these components can be replaced with much better but i still want to stay as cheap as possible because I am on a tight budget.

CPU- AMD Phenom II x4
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103727)

Mobo- ASUS M5A99X EVO AM3+
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131754)

PSU- Corsair Professional series HX750
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139010)

VIDEO CARD- Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 1GB
(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908)

RAM- G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB)

HARDDRIVE- (Already own a 1tb that i will be using)

DVD DRIVE- (already have a Blu-Ray drive that i will be using)

CPUFAN- (already using a cooler master hyper 212 plus)

CASE- ( have a nzxt phantom I will be using)

Alright guys and girls that is it give me some feed back and I have already checked that the fan will match the cpu but will the mounting bracket work with the mother board? since the AM3 can work with AM3+ but will the bracket fit is my main question.

Any other questions just ask and I can give you any information needed.:)

EDIT* I will be using the computer to do minor video editing and a lot of multi tasking also i play a lot of games on steam but I do not have to have the graphics maxed out if i did i may up the vcards to sli not sure yet but i might add another 2 sticks of the same ram to double it to 16gb

That's all good stuff, but for video editing you may want an NVIDIA card so that you have CUDA support which helps to speed up your render times. What software do you use?

I'd also try and put as much money into the CPU as possible, go for an i5 2500K if you can afford it, spend less on your PSU (750W is overkill for this, a Corsair TX650 would do, or even a CX600) and more on your CPU.

Don't go to 16GB of RAM. I spent all day yesterday encoding AVI widescreen videos, and I did not go above 7GB RAM usage, so 8GB would be fine for video editing.

I'd go for

CPU Core i5 2500K http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072
Mobo Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128544
RAM G.Skill Sniper 8GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231417
PSU Corsair TX650 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005
GPU MSI GTX 560 Ti http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127608

There you go, it's $813 all in all. If that's too much you could always get a cheaper board, see this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128546 you'd save $20 right there, and I used a 2GB GTX 560 Ti, a 1GB would also be fine and you'd save $15 there too http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127565

I originally wanted to go intel but the amd was a little cheaper.

I use power director 9 or what ever the new one was as of may last year.

The laptop I am using right now is using an i5 2500 non unlocked. This is the computer i bought my girlfriend when she decided her old laptop needed some orange juice. : ( can you recommend a good nvidea card around the price of the sapphire i chose?

and I kinda wanted to go with a modular PSU only because I am a neat freak but my case does not have a window in it so I guess I could stand not thinking about it all the time lol : )

alright so as much as I know about motherboards i should know this but how cheap is too cheap ?

That 965 is good value, but the 2500K would be faster, and when choosing components for video editing machines, you want to put as money into the CPU as possible.

Well the GTX 550 Ti is the same sort of price as the 6850, but the 6850 is faster. Power Director 9 does use CUDA however, so you may want to consider the GTX 550 Ti, but apparently it also uses AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing technology, which is the ADM equivalent, so I'd say the 6850 is probably the better choice.

The Phantom has good cable management, just shove the cables behind the motherboard tray and forget about them.

Kind of a vague question... there's no such thing as "too cheap", but the cheaper boards won't perform as well as the more expensive boards. The Gigabyte board I chose for you has the latest Z77 chipset, it literally got released 3 days ago.

alright man your are a life saver i have been able to just about match the cost of my original build but with the parts I want

i got a question about the mobo though I realize that the mobo with all that is said I did not realize the z77 chipset when i first glanced at it so would it be better to go with the newer z77 chipset when it could possibly have defects or this z68 by asus

ive had my eye on this board for some time now and i have heard really good and realiable things about it

another question for you would it be worth ivesting in a pci wireless card or jsut buying the dongle because i have heard really bad things about built in cards and i have a belkin dongle on the old family computer im trying to replace

sorry if that came off a little arrogant im just trying to understand and I dont want to have to rma because of bugs and or DOA

I am leaving for work and while im out i will probably have a fully functionng list so ill let you and all of the others know what i have finally decided on

I can tell you now that that board is very, very good - I've got one! :D I have the Pro version (see my sig) but the one you're looking at is also very good. It's a good, solid board with lots of features and it's fast. Definitely recommended. Works well with the 2500K, you can overclock the 2500K to 4.3GHz using the auto overclocking settings on the board - just make sure your 2500K is sufficiently cooled. Overclocking the 2500K on this board is as simple as clicking on a button. That's all you have to do. So yeah, I'd recommend it.

I've had issues with PCI wi-fi cards but that was an older card and I'm sure the technology has gotten better. If you've already got a dongle then why spend the extra? I'd say use the dongle, saves a PCI slot in your PC too, you never know when you may need one in the future. You can easily add USB ports though.

yeah I like the uefi bios I have used them before and especially someone who does not want or have the time to sit down and learn the old bios way this is defiantely a time savers for those of us on the go.

I dont know if i want to go with the pro version of the board but i think im gonna go with that ill post a full list of my specs and what my finaly price came to when i get home lol

Doesn't matter if you get the Pro or the normal version, it's still a great board. I can't remember what the difference between the normal version and the Pro is off the top of my head but I think it's that the Pro has more SATA ports and the Pro also has built-in Bluetooth whereas the normal one doesn't. I think that's it.

Let me know what you go for in the end, and I will look over it for you and make any adjustments for you.

Alright sorry it took me some time to get back but this is my final list and final price for all of you interested.

CPU- Intel i5 2500k ($219)

MOBO- Asus P8z68 ($179)

* I do have to buy another win7 but i dont
count that

and once I get some more money i may upgrade the GPU to something better but for the price and what i want to do that should do for now. the ram may get upgraded later just for comfort of not stressing the original now

also I am getting a new keyboard because my old computer has been drudged in several forms of water and coke from various relatives (not gonna happen when i build this)

the keyboard i have been looking at is a HP KEYBOARD ELITE

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ords&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-_-pla-_-NA-_-NA

is there any others you could recommend

and just for s's and g's I will post my mouse for ya to look at

thanks all for any additional information and i will keep every one updated periodically

Hi there, that's all good stuff you've got planned.

I don't know much about keyboard and/or mice, but the keyboard seems decent and the mouse too. I use the Logitech G400, I like that mouse a lot, so you can take a look into that if you want, I think it's a 3600 DPI mouse? If you want removable weights then the Logitech G500 is also a good choice, not used a G500 myself but I can recommend the G400.

Ive owned two saitek/madcatz (or whoever you want to call them, they own cyborg too) products so far, my current keyboard being one of them, and a previous flight joystick that i took straight back, i almost went with the RAT myself, its got better reviews than anything else from them.

I warn you now, i will never be buying from them again, my keyboard is a peice of crap, so is the 'software' it comes with. the only reason im keeping it is cos the only other board i like is in an american layout :(

I am however very pleased with my mouse, Aivia M8600, its amazing and just does everything its required, the software is great and the amount of buttons and battery life is perfect! It can also be wired or wireless, but to programme the buttons and modes it needs to be plugged in!

Anyhow, for me Cyborg = nononoon but i would recommend the M8600!
