If your budget is the same as listed, this is what I'd get.

Most people don't need a disk drive anymore but I included one. The case your chose didn't have a slot for one. DDR3 ram you listed will not work with a DDR4 Skylake platform either.

I am basically trying to build a monster for around $1400 that will run any game I need it to. I appreciate the build assistance, but are there any further tweaks that would optimize this bad boy other than what is already listed? I would like to have 32G of RAM, but that's an easy upgrade. Is this mobo/chip combo a fairly good one? Should I go for a 800W power supply? Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

EDIT- Also, is the Skylake chip series a fairly good graphical optimizer? I want to go with the best.

Why?
Is this mobo/chip combo a fairly good one?
With your budget... probably. Mobo isn't the best Z170 offering out there but you're also not spending 3 times as much.
Should I go for a 800W power supply?
No.

What do you mean by graphical optimizer? You're not using the CPU to render graphics in games. That's done by the GTX 1070. And no the GTX 1070's not the best, the new Titan X is, but that's also $1200 by itself.

Because more RAM allows for more resources to waste, basically. 500 chrome windows up all running a java based emulator of WoW on a fake server, sure, whatever. lol

To my understanding, the Skylake chips were designed to work with video cards in order to optimize performance, I know they aren't used to actually handle the rendering.

My base question would be this. This is a gaming computer. What is the best motherboard/chip combo that would allow for ultra high settings on most games. I'm willing to spend a lot on the CPU and GPU. But I would like to keep it close to 1400-1500. Also keeping in mind I am cautious of getting a CPU that won't choke the GPU's performance as I've run into before.

With a 1400-1500 budget, what @C4C has put together is probably the best you can get.

The GTX 1070 should be able to handle most if not all games under 1080p at max settings. It's also a really good card for 1440p res too.

The Z170 is the best chipset you can get for the LGA1151 socket. Different mobos using the Z170 chip is all about choosing what you want to see on features and expansion slot configurations. Up to you really.. if you want to spend more or not on it. I'd probably get one that has a lot of power phases (usually counting the amount of vregs on it would give you a good idea), and having exclusively PCI-E slots and not PCI slots.

The 6700k is the top of the line processor you can buy on the 1151 socket until kaby lake comes out. With your budget, I would not recommend going to the Broadwell-E lineup (LGA 2011 v3 & X99 chipset).

The h50's crap. Get a better one like the h80i GT or a dual rad solution. Antec 900 is an old case without cable management in it's design, you might want to get something different as well. RM750x isn't really needed, you can drop down to a 650W version. Swap that seagate 3tb for a WD one.

Can you suggest a good case that has blue lights and usb ports on the front or similar that has better insides, or just one you like? I'm probably the least experienced with cases out of any of the components.

Here's a few in your price range of that Antec. Don't think any of them come with blue led fans, but they can be easily swapped out for them. Just make sure when buying additional fans, do not buy the high static pressure ones UNLESS you're mounting them on radiators.

One last thought, is water cooling really necessary over the base heat sink fan if I'm not planning on overclocking? I see the liquid cooling systems get great reviews, but the bad ones are "this thing leaked water and killed my *insert component*". It's kind of freaking me out that the point of failure with a fan is it doesn't work and you replace it, but if fate just happens to screw with you on the water coolers, you lose hundreds of dollars.

The 6700k doesn't come with a heatsink fan.

Corsair AIO coolers carry a pretty long warranty. If the leakage has caused the failure of other components, Corsair has said that they will replace them under their warranty. I'm not sure how that is handled as it's probably a case by case specific. http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103856

If you don't want to bother with AIO coolers, you can opt to buy a Noctua D14 or a D15.

I went ahead and replaced it with the Rosewill case I've been using for like 2-3 years with my current computer (780 GTX). Pretty pleased with it over all, provided everything actually fits in it. I'd feel a lot safer with the fan you mentioned, so I swapped it out. The 750W is actually cheaper than the 650W one at the moment, so there's really no downside, right? The only thing I see now is the motherboard is saying it takes DDR4 3200 at OC speeds? I'm not actually up to date on what this means. Is it normal to have to overclock the memory? The MB I have listed maxes out at 3200.

Personally, I wouldn't get that Rosewill case over the other ones available for that price range.

It is normal to have to set the memory speeds in the BIOS manually. The i7 6700k by default supports up to DDR4-2133 memory speeds. Any thing over that will require overclocking of the memory through the BIOS. Once you get the components and build it and have questions about setting up the memory speeds and timings properly, you're probably best to create a separate thread and ask about it.

If you need more storage, I would suggest a WD Green 3TB drive. I've had one and it's worked great for a long time. I run my OS and programs on a 500GB EVO and all my data on the 3tb and i've never had an issue, just figured I would throw that out there.

Okay, it's all put together. it turns on. The motherboard is getting power, but no monitor signal. All four fans work in the case, the GPU lights are on, but nothing on the monitor. I'm using a VGA to HDMI adapter, and that's always worked in the past. Any ideas? I also tested the vga monitor cord with the on board graphics. Still no signal.

EDIT- I tested all the USB and USB 3.0 ports with my external HD. They are all sending power through them. But when I try my keyboard in either the keyboard/mouse port or my USB keyboard, no lights come on. The same USB ports that send power to the external USB HD just fine.

You bought the GTX 1070 right?

That card doesn't have passive analog support like previous video cards have since VGA is an ancient standard that no one really uses anymore. You'll have to either connect with a DVI, Display port, or HDMI cable, or get an active VGA adapter.

I did get a vga to hdmi adapter. It doesn't send a signal. I hear no "this is the issue" beeps from the motherboard. It just turns on, powers everything, and does nothing. I tried booting it up with the MB driver CD in it. Still nothing. I should at least get the bios screen or a beep or two, right?
