Gaming rig in a couple months

I'll be using this computer for high end gaming, I mite try to learn to overclock(it doesn't seem that hard), burning dvds and cds, internet surfing, music and videos. I've pretty much made up my mind already what I want except I'm debating b/w the 7900 gtx 512mb and the x1900xtx 512 mb. Just let me know what you guys think and give me some suggestions.

Case- ASPIRE X-Navigator

Mobo- ASUS A8R-MVP

Video Card(Undecided but leaning towards x1900xtx)- Radeon X1900XTX 512MB

CPU- AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800

Memory- CORSAIR XMS 2GB

Hard Drives- 2X WD 16Mb L2 cache 250 GB

Black Keyboard

DVD Burners- 2X BenQ 16X DVD±R

3rd Drive- LITE-ON Combo Drive

Game Controller

I also have a 3.5 black floppy drive(didnt think it was that important)
Well let me know what you guys think and leave me any suggestions on anything and let me know if something doesnt go together(wouldnt want to buy it and have it not work). I have a monitor, mouse and speakers already and idk what sound card to get( i already have one i dont think its that important right now though)
 
If you are going with the ATI X1900 XT you should be well set. With a pair of those you could go with the ATI Crossfire setup there to max it out. Nice board for stock even. Some people would go with a different model AMD like an Opteron 165 dual core Socket 939. A matched pair of 1gb xms series dimms should compliment that setup. I prefer Kingston for Asus boards however. If you are running the SATAs by themselves you should be unless planning them strictly for storage. Any mix with ide drives will see the ide override the SATA controller by default.

The one problem is three dvd and no cd rom or cd writer to read software disks as well as others like cd-r/rws. You can still watch dvd moives or access data dvds with only one dvd writer. Logitech has some excellent accessories as well as some made for Microsoft. Three dvd drives is overkill there however since more then one dvd and one cd drive is ever needed. With at least a standard cd rom drive you will be able to access cds where some cds can't be read on dvd drives. And some dvd drives fail to read cds.
 
Yeah the three drives is overkill. Although, if you got some spare change in your piggy bank, I suggest getting a better cpu, but that's just me. Also, I don't see your psu (Power Supply)? I hope you're not planning on using the stock psu that comes with that case as it is horrible and is worthless...
Edit: Lol, nvm, that psu will probably serve you good enough, although I suggest getting a better one...
 
Gee I could... only hope that bigpimp101 goes with a Enermax or Antec True Power 480w or even TP 550w supply there with all those drives especially if deciding on Crossfire too to build a gaming case here. Plus you have to consider what other hardware(s) will be going along with it.
 
ok thanks guys but i thynk im going to get 2 dvd burners and a cd rom....if needed in the future ill get a new 550 watt power supply( the one that comes with it is 500 and i thynk it'll be alrite for now)
 
Apparently set on two dvd writers understood. But you could consider a cd-r/rw drive as a substitute for a cd read only type. How about a Sony 52x writer for a number of reasons? reads at 52x writes at 40x. Those are good for backing up data if there isn't enough data for a data dvd. Personal video clips, photos, etc.
 
lol wellll I'm actually looking to spend somewhere around 1800 with labor and shyt bc im going to have someone put it together for me....but yes i am set on 2 dvd burners and might possibly take your opinions and get a cd/cd-rw drive instead of the regular cd rom.
 
If you are paying that amount total for having it assembled you make sure that you get a good service warranty there.

Because you shouldint be lloking now new things will come out in those few months new graphic cards and etc

I agree, if it's anything over 1 month, then the parts will become cheaper, and they will have newer technologies out, not to mention some of the parts you picked out may not be available in a few months.

ATi recommends 450W and a 30A rail for a single XTX.

There's no reason for not looking now as well as later in preparation according to desired specifications and preferences. At this point the discussion is on opinions regarding hardwares already looked at. There's always some other new hardware around the corner. But looking at what is currently available never hurts either in getting the best ideas for a new build.
