gaming rig install help

ok so its been a while since i built a gaming rig and the ones in the past had not as nice setups. what im wondering is do you have to do anything in the bios for it to just boot, or should basic functions be almost plug and play

Providing you won't be running Raid or Ahci the only thing you'll have to do is go into the bios and make sure that the cdrom is first boot device so you can install windows from the CD/dvd.

ok thats what i was hoping for. i know when my friend upgraded his system, in order to use sata6 he had to run it as a raid. would i have to or can i just use it as normal

Not unless the controller its on only runs in raid mode, Raid mode is not required to run SATA 6gb/s. I think SATA 3 is overrated as we are still not attaining the full speed of SATA 2 yet.

yeah, i just dont want to have to change it in the future, granted im getting an ssd as well, but we cant hit top speed on those either
