Gaming System

Someone I know asked me about the following components for his new computer, he wants to be able to play the latest games, etc.

ASUS A8V-E Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
Corsair Twinx1024 - 3200C2
ATI Radeon x800Pro PCI Express 256mb
Seagate 120GB HDD (SATA)
Antec TrueBlue 480W PSU
Antec Super Lanboy case
Viewsonic VP171b
(DVD burner, WinXP 64, etc)

Now I'm kinda too lazy to do someone else's research ( :p ), particularly because I'm not so much into hardware these days (and never was much of a gamer), so any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks guys.

We're in Australia, so where/price probably won't mean anything to you. He kinda wants "best bang for buck" though.

Thanks again guys, I'll pass on any advice I get here to him in a couple of days.

Unless he planning on unlocking pipelines and stuff the radeon x800XL might be a better choise. It proberly going to cost a little bit more so it also depends on what he can aford.

Yes true but generally pipeunlocking on Ati cards is a much more pleasureable task than for nVidia cards and even at 12pipes, it's not all that bad.
