Gaming upgrade: Ram or SSD

I have a question, I use my desktop computer to play World of Warcraft, it seems to run it just fine. I want to push it into the "plays great" section though. The graphics are set to somewhere in the middle and are fine by me, seems to run just fine. I currently have 8gb of Ram. I wondering which would be the "biggest" upgrade to make. I'm looking at:

The ram I have are 2 different sets of slower Latency. (4x2)

This is the fastest speed my mobo can handle as well as the lowest latency.
I'd be going from 4x2 to 2x4, would it also come in handy to do the 4x4 set up? All of the G-Skill Ram, and make the computer run a bit faster?

I've heard great things about SSD and understand that it would only help in loading times in the game. I wouldn't mind seeing everything load faster from OS to the game itself though. I'd have both installed on the ssd.

Its not that i'm frustrated with how it currently preforms, just that I know I can make it better.

hmm I will definately have to look into that. I really want to have a higher end card just so I can have it for longer. I'm not familiar with PSU's as far as size, I'm not sure if I should just measure my old one and go from there. Any good manufactures that you would recommend?

I am a notebook guy so I can't give as good of advice as others. Go online at NewwEgg and look around. You will see companies you know and trust.

But others can tell you specific model info to get you the best.

WoW isn't really a demanding game. A middle of the road $150-$200 card should run it fine. The GTX 570 is a complete overkill for that game. As for powersupply, take a look at Corsair models in the 600-700 watt range.

Seasonic, Corsair, Antec, Be Quiet!, Enermax, Silverstone, XFX are all brands you should be looking at

is an excellent unit and would be able to handle your 570 with no problems

yes I know its a huge step up from my 9800gt, and more than needed for WoW, but I'm also looking into getting rid of my console and picking up games like Fallout New Vegas and maybe CoD for my PC. Are there certain models I should be looking for? Real quickly just browsing i've noticed different rail types, is more better?

Any from the models I listed will be fine, so long as they are 550+W, I would stay towards 600+W though so you have headroom.

The number of rails doesn't really matter, they just spread the load over different cables, it depends on the design of the unit

heh yeah but somewhere down deep i've been wanting to get a bigger power supply, and this would be a good reason. I haven't looked into it but every so often my computer would do a random restart with no error, always thought it was the PSU not giving enough power.

And Tim there are other GPU's that might not require the PSU upgrade if you want to step down from the 570.

It depends what 500W unit he has now. A 500W unit is not a 500W unit, it depends on the quality. You can get a cheap 500W unit that has peak output of 500W, but can not sustain anywhere near that, so even for a small GPU upgrade, would be no good. A decent 500W unit will be able to have a sustained 500W output no problem so will be able to handle more, but you are talking a 460/560, or 69xx card, all of which, with the exception of a 6950/6970, would be much less powerful than a 570, though still an improvement over the current 9800GT

@OP, what 500W PSU is it?

I think PSU upgrade and 570 is a great idea only wanted to point out. But After researching I think PSU is needed as 500w just not enough for good GPU upgrade. Also if your going to do it I think even going above 600w not a bad idea for the future.

Depending on cost I would even consider going way over and might even carry it over later to the next build?

Yeah I think I might just do that, I'll want a decent one to last me so I'll be looking around 150 or so. So maybe around 750w should do me pretty nicely.
