I am looking to buy a CPU that would be good at playing games like COD and Crysis. I want the games to run at decent graphics and not to lag at all. Which one of these would you suggest?

AMD Phenom II X4 965 or AMD X6 1055T

On CPU Benchmark the 1055T has a better rating. But from what I have heard the 965 is a better CPU for gaming.

GPUs are a little bit more of a issue when making games run smoothly, moreso than a CPU...id look into graphics cards such as a nvidia gtx460 or radeon hd5850

To answer your question, the 965 currently will yield better performance in regard to gaming. The higher stock clock speed will give it the edge, although you could argue the 6 core cpu would be best to purchase because it is more future proof.

Yes, as above. No FPS games utilise any more than 4 cores.
